Project Overview
A partnership between Kaplan and the University of Liverpool prepares international students for entry into the University of Liverpool’s degree programmes with courses in academic skills, key subject knowledge and English language. The project was to provide a new ‘live/learn’ facility catering for 900 students, and with high-quality residential accommodation.
As the competition to attract the most talented international students is increasing this new facility needed to offer a high level of student experience necessary to attract the best students from around the world, with 30No. studio units, 46No. cluster units and with a total of 259 bedrooms.
The student rooms offer a high quality environment. Students are generally grouped in clusters of five, with shared kitchen and lounge areas. This arrangement has been shown to maximise student interaction and social mixing. The top floor is given over to single-persons studios; these are larger and more exclusive rooms.
Choosing where to live is such an important part of the student experience. The rooms aim to provide a space for students to call their own, somewhere to relax, have fun and an environment where students feel safe and secure. Our goal was to provide living and social experience that enriches lives in a meaningful way and offering students a place to call home while studying.
