Project Overview
Alcatel Submarine Networks (ASN) is the world’s only fully integrated provider of turnkey submarine network solutions. Much of the production is carried out in tightly controlled ‘clean room conditions’ by highly-skilled technicians.
The project refurbishes and extends ASN’s facility on the Greenwich Peninsula, improves the production rooms, ‘clean rooms’ and office spaces and adds a new reception and café area. The investment strengthens ASN’s position as a global technical leader and assists in attracting and retaining the highest quality staff.
Key criteria include improving the first impressions of the facility, creating a café and a meeting space that acts as the building’s new heart and showing off ASN’s capabilities to visiting customers using the ‘housing’ process as a key demonstration area. It also creates new open-plan office spaces linked to the building’s heart and reduces energy and other in-use costs.
The external appearance of the whole building is transformed with increased areas of glazing; a timber glulam structure combined with aluminium bris soleil is a particularly exciting figurative element added to the main frontage.
