Our St. Peter’s Gate renovation project in Nottingham has become award-winning following the results of the British Council for Offices (BCO) Midlands and Central England Awards.
Taking home the prize for ‘projects up to 1,500m2’ at the regional awards, our efforts on the internal refit of the Grade II listed property means the project is now a finalist for the same category at this year’s national awards taking place in October.
We are incredibly proud to have won this regional award and be a finalist in a further category as well. The win is testament to the hard work of our team and the ingenuity they possess.
The project demonstrates that our commitment to designing exceptional spaces remains as high as ever and what better place to showcase this than in Nottingham, our home city for several decades. For years we have been involved with projects that change the landscape of our city, and now this investment in our HQ is a strategic re-commitment to the city and region, while bringing a previously unoccupied building on one of the most important streets in central Nottingham back into use.
Judges sung the praises of the project, noting how the design takes advantage of the loftiness of the three-storey structure and delivers the required amount of space through the installation of a mezzanine floor, while retaining many of the building’s original 1870s features.
Recognition was given to the sense of light, airiness and space within the building, as showcased by the reception area that takes the form of a coffee bar – adding to the warm welcome for visitors and as a available breakout space for staff.
Arguably the office’s greatest features are located downstairs, where the former subterranean bank vaults are now home to an agile work environment, including a break-out zone and welfare areas.
It was a wonderful afternoon at the awards and one that placed our achievements among other industry leaders, which is exactly where we want to be. To now be in the running for a national award demonstrates our ambitions as a firm and allows us to continue highlighting a project of which we’re immensely proud.
Together with great views over the local St Peter’s Church, improved environmental conditions and connections with nature, the office supports our team’s motivation, productivity and their wellbeing - it is the embodiment of our mission to design places that feel better.
The British Council for Offices National Awards will take place at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London, on 4 October 2022.
